Driving Test Centres by Area
Most learner drivers don't just have one test centre to choose from. Depending on where you live, there could be anywhere from two to a dozen centres within a reasonable drive — and the pass rate gap between them can be significant. Picking the right one, especially if you can practise on the roads nearby, could make a real difference to your chances.
We cover 331 locations across England, Scotland, and Wales. Each area page shows every DVSA test centre within a 20-mile radius of that town, ranked by distance and pass rate. In cities like Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds, you might have 20 or more centres to pick from. In rural areas you may have just one or two — but even then, a centre 15 miles away with a meaningfully higher pass rate might be worth the drive.
How to use this page
The table below shows every area we cover, how many test centres are within range, and the best pass rate available nearby. Sort by any column — sorting by "Best Rate" shows which towns have the highest-performing centre within reach. Click an area name to see the full breakdown of every centre near it, with distances, volumes, and a data-driven recommendation.
A high "best rate" doesn't mean that centre is right for you. Road familiarity matters more than statistics, and a centre with a lower pass rate on roads you know well will almost always serve you better than a high-rate centre in an unfamiliar area. Use the best rate as a starting point, then read the area page for the full picture.
